I came from a country that over-emphasized patriotism before. I really hate to say that, but patriotism is nothing but merely a tool for a government to avoid trouble from its people. And it seems that patriotism has been used to persecute people for more than two centuries. I don't think that there is gonna be a way out. The civilization tends to destroy itself using this kind of stupid things. We humans tend to choose stupid things to believe and choose to kill others that are not of our kind. Basically you can not choose democracy and patriotism at the same time. Too bad, isn't it?
By the way, did I mention that? Killing is nothing to be proud of, right?

I heard that once: 'God is an hypothesis, too much religion is bad for your neighborhood's health' Good isn't it? I prefer this one: 'I don't ask you your race nor religion, I just ask what is your pain...' That's from Pasteur, the guy who invented the rabbies vaccination :)
Dear mjhsieh, It's a great article. I totally agree that people tend to believe stupid things. I myself am not sure how many studpid things that I believe...
